Designed a dual-camera tripod system for Dell that enables content creators to capture both top-down and front-facing views with a single, streamlined tool. The system simplifies multi-angle recording for tutorials, demos, and creative workflows, making professional-quality content easier and more efficient to produce.
The Ask
Content creators often need to capture multiple perspectives, such as top-down shots for tutorials and front-facing angles for narration but achieving this typically requires juggling multiple tripods, unstable setups, or complex mounting systems. This slows down workflow, limits creative flexibility, and creates unnecessary friction for creators who need fast, reliable, and repeatable recording setups.
The Design
I designed a dual-camera tripod system that integrates both a top-view and front-view mount into a single compact tool. The system allows creators to seamlessly switch between angles or record them simultaneously without rearranging equipment. With an adjustable structure, stable footprint, and intuitive setup, the design streamlines multi-angle recording into one efficient, creator-friendly workflow reducing setup time, improving consistency, and supporting more polished content production.
the development
Throughout the project, I explored multiple joinery mechanisms and form variations to create a stable yet flexible dual-angle system. I iterated through several low and mid fidelity prototypes, 3D-printing components and spray-painting them to achieve a realistic finish for testing. These explorations informed a final to-scale model that demonstrated the full functionality, proportions, and user interaction of the proposed design.
the takeaway
This project strengthened my ability to translate creator pain points into a refined, user-centric hardware solution. I gained hands-on experience in rapid prototyping, structural problem-solving, and designing for real-world use cases reinforcing the importance of iterative exploration when developing functional, reliable consumer products.
